Welcome to the Washington State Chapter of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association website. This group is dedicated to enhancing the cohesiveness, esprit de corps, and traditions of valor of rotary wing pilots who flew in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam Era. We strive to seek out these individuals, inform them of the existence of the VHPA, and encourage all eligible individuals to become members.
Membership is open to all helicopter pilots who flew in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam era (1961-1975).
Click on Next Meeting for details on our next meeting. Generally, we meet in February to have lunch and hold a business meeting and hold elections, in May at the Olympic Air Show, and at the Auburn Veterans Day parade in November.
Upcoming Event:
Our 2025 annual meeting will be at the Olympia Airport during the Olympic Flight Museum’s air show on Father’s Day weekend. The meeting will take place at 1000 on Saturday, 14 June, in the Glacier Aviation Hangar 51, immediately South of the Museum. Donuts, coffee, and conversation will start the morning, followed by our business meeting. Agenda items will include getting reacquainted, member updates and Taps, more discussion of the chapter road ahead, ideas for additional meetings, and, of course, the election of new/replacement chapter officers. Local military historian, former Army Intelligence Officer and military art collector Dave Struthers will do a short presentation. He is seeking signatures of Vietnam helicopter pilots for the margins on his copy of “The Long Green Line” art piece. Bill Lyons will bring our stock of VHPA bling to the meeting so you can replace that cap you lost, get another patch for your jacket, or resize your trophy shirts. After the meeting, stay and BS or watch the Airshow.
